Contents of the Tour

Tour de Tuscany

A beautiful guided tour through the Tuscan countryside.

Tuscany is known for its landscapes, traditions, history, artistic legacy and its influence on high culture. What better way to experience this than from the saddle of a bike; and of course the Italians love cycling so you will be assured a warm welcome wherever you stop.

We start our rides from the iconic city of San Gimignano.  We ride a various routes taking in the very best that Tuscany has to offer. The routes passes through Vinci, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra, and Siena, using cycle paths wherever possible.

The routes have been carefully designed to meet our requirements of : Beautiful views, safty, little traffic, coffee breaks, gelato stops, excellent lunch.

Tuscany can be very hilly, and there are certainly hills on the route – indeed there are a couple of quite challenging days on this tour – but the route offers a real mix of riding with several quite flat miles.

Hotel Le Colline di San Gimignano will be like your second home. The staff want to be your Tuscan family: They are waiting to welcome you and to tell their story, which starts in 1998, and wich has always offere its guests an attentive and profewssional service and a warm hospitality that will make you feel part of the family.

Situated only 1 km from San Gimignano, easily reachable both on foot and by bike, the hotel is located on at strategic position and is therefore an ideal starting point to discover all the gems and beautiful destinations of Tuscany

The history of Le Colline :

  • 1949
    Back in 1949, Leonisio Pepi and his wife Ida opened the Bottega di Pietrafitta, where food products were sold to Tuscan farming families. Later on, their son Franco Pepi, with the help of his wife Isolina, decided to transform the shop into a trattoria: the basis of their philosophy was hospitality. In the “Da Nisio” trattoria, in fact, customers were welcomed with simplicity and care and invited to taste good Chianti wine and the excellent typical Tuscan cuisine.
  • 1986
    The trattoria became our current “Ristorante Da Nisio”, an elegant environment where quality and Tuscan tradition are perfectly combined.
  • 1998
    The Hotel le Colline was born and is now run by her daughter Donatella Pepi, a master of hospitality who, thanks to her friendliness, will make you feel at home.
  • 2018
    The management of the company has been passed on to the young daughter Giulia, who has decided to take on this challenge, thanks to her entrepreneurial spirit.
 
The hotel has a very nice pool-area, open from  08:00 to 20:00, with parasols and sunbeds. This is a fine place to relax after a day in the saddle. Our rooms are a mix of  nicely decorated single, double, twinn and triple bed rooms.
